Mission Statement:

Everyday Brain Fitness and Bioflex Laser’s mission is to provide people with access to non-computerized brain fitness support that integrates social interaction, fall prevention techniques and supportive low-level laser therapy maximizing the overall benefit of a healthy brain function.

 

 

Brain Fitness

Activities are designed to retain or strengthen:

  • Accurate perception
  • Visual discrimination of foreground-background, form, size, position in space, dimensionality and color
  • Visual analysis and synthesis of position in space
  • Auditory discrimination of foreground-background,
    position in time and space, and dimensionality
  • Auditory analysis and synthesis of position in time and space
  • Visual discrimination of dimensionality
  • Decoding and integration of information
  • Visual closure
  • Imagination
  • Visual memory, especially of forms and sequence
  • Auditory memory
  • Short-term—working memory
  • Long-term memory
  • Concept of numbers
  • Reasoning
  • Logical thinking
  • Fine motor coordination
  • Gross motor coordination
  • Sensory-motor integration
  • Processing speed
  • Orientation point
  • Executive function**

**Executive Functions are abilities that enable goal-oriented behavior such as the ability to plan and execute a goal.

 

These include:

  • blindfolded exerciseFlexibility: the capac­ity for quickly switch­ing to the appro­pri­ate men­tal mode
  • Theory of mind: insight into other people’s inner world, their plans, their likes and dis­likes
  • Anticipation: pre­dic­tion based on pat­tern recog­ni­tion
  • Problem-solving: defin­ing the prob­lem in the right way to then gen­er­ate solu­tions and pick the right one
  • Decision making: the abil­ity to make deci­sions based on problem-solving, on incom­plete infor­ma­tion and on emo­tions (ours and others’)
  • Working memory: the capac­ity to hold and manip­u­late infor­ma­tion “on-line” in real time
  • Emotional self-regulation: the abil­ity to iden­tify and man­age one’s own emo­tions for good performance
  • Sequencing: the abil­ity to break down com­plex actions into man­age­able units and pri­or­i­tize them in the right order
  • Inhibition: the abil­ity to with­stand dis­trac­tion, and inter­nal urges

 

Clients seeking brain fitness desire:

  • brain orientation, balance and visual and auditory memory stabilization after mild or moderate brain trauma due to accident or surgery
  • concentration, attention, processing and balance after surgical procedures and/or chemotherapy
  • retention and/or strengthening of existing cognitive abilities to slow or reverse dementia
  • optimal cognitive functioning while aging

 

Prior to services clients are assessed using evidence based tools to assess strengths: FAB, VAMC SLUMS, TUG, Trailblazing, Serials

Based on the interview and test results, clients receive a written recommendation for appropriate services.
